Charlotte Gingell, 30, and Karl Strand, 35
Trying on wedding dresses while your nearest and dearest look on is a rite of passage Charlotte Gingell wasn’t going to miss out on, despite a Melbourne lockdown preventing her from doing it the conventional way.
The bride went on her own to try on four gowns mid-lockdown while her mum and bridal party looked on and helped her decide via Facetime.
The bride and groom moved to Perth during Melbourne’s third COVID-19 lockdown and tied the knot in front of 120 guests. The 70 Eastern States-based guests that couldn’t attend because of border closures were able to livestream the nuptials.
When and where
The couple exchanged vows on April 17 at Assembly Yard in Fremantle where the self-proclaimed foodies treated guests to an oyster-shucking station, an incredible spread from Ultimo Catering & Events, negronis, wine from Giovanni Armani Giorgio , beers from local brewery Bright Tank, and a whisky bar to dish out nips of the couple’s favourite Japanese and Irish whiskey.
Dress
Charlotte always knew Cathleen Jia would make her dress and she is a big fan of the simplicity and elegance of her gowns. Karl was suited up by Suit Vault.
Honeymoon
The newlyweds were planning a dream honeymoon in Tuscany but because of COVID-19, they headed to the South-West instead, where they spent just over two weeks at Injidup Resort and Empire Retreat. A highlight was the private plunge pool at the villa in Injidup. The lovebirds splashed out and went to all the amazing restaurants and wineries the region has to offer.
