The cameras have started rolling on the set of Katherine Langford’s latest drama, Savage River.
The Perth-raised actor, who is fast becoming one of Hollywood’s rising stars thanks to roles in Thirteen Reasons Why and Knives Out, has returned to Aussie shores for the ABC six-part crime drama.
The 25-year-old leads the homegrown cast, backed by a world class creative team led by director Jocelyn Moorhouse (The Dressmaker) and the legendary cinematographer Don McAlpine (Puberty Blues), as filming got underway in Victoria and will continue for the next nine weeks.
The series features an enviable ensemble cast of established and emerging Australian actors, including fellow Perth thespian Cooper van Grootel who is starring in one of the next big teen television dramas, One of Us Is Lying, after landing roles in Jasper Jones, The Heights and Mystery Road.
ABC head of drama, entertainment and Indigenous Sally Riley says: “Aquarius Films have assembled an amazing cast led by the immensely talented Katherine Langford and Jacqueline McKenzie. This moody mystery set in stunning regional Victoria will keep you guessing till the end. We can’t wait to share this gripping series with audiences later this year.”
Savage River will air on ABC TV and ABC iview later this year.
