Pete Davidson is ready to throw down with PETA after the animal rights group tried to shame him for buying a puppy at a pet store instead of adopting from an overcrowded shelter.

“It’s tragic that Pete didn’t seek out a borough-born mutt from a city animal shelter, because a scrappy New Yorker with charm, personality, and unconventional handsomeness could have been his perfect match,” Daphna Nachminovitch, the senior VP of cruelty investigations at PETA, told TMZ after the Saturday Night Live alum was seen purchasing a cavapoo puppy last month from Citipups in Manhattan with his current girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders.

“Since shelters in New York and across the country are overflowing with homeless animals, PETA urges Pete to show some big heart energy by adopting, not shopping, in the future,” Nachminovitch politely reminded the comedian.
But Davidson, angered that the store surreptitiously filmed him, angrily fired back at Nachminovitch in a voicemail obtained by TMZ.

“My mom’s f—ing dog who is 2 years old died a week before so we’re all so sad, so I had to get a specific dog” he said in the voicemail, obtained by TMZ, emphasizing that the dog was for his grieving mother.
“So why don’t you do your research before you f—ing create news stories for people because you’re boring.”
The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts star, 29, ended his call by telling Nachminovitch, “F— you and suck my d—.”
But PETA wasn’t backing down, telling TMZ, “If Pete had done his research, he would know that there’s no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog, that at least a quarter of dogs in shelters are purebreds, and that Petfinder has listings for homeless dogs of every breed under the sun, including the one he purchased.”

Davidson then offered up a muted apology, telling the outlet that he was sorry for his outburst.
“I haven’t seen my mom and sister cry like that in over 20 years. I was trying to cheer up my family. I was already upset that (Citipups) had filmed me without my permission or acknowledgement. Then this organization (PETA) made a public example of us, making our grieving situation worse. I am upset. It was a poor choice of words. I shouldn’t have said what I said, but I am not sorry for standing up for myself and my family.”
Last month, the Bupkis star announced the death of his family dog in an emotional social media post shared by his standup pal Dave Sirus.
“Yesterday we lost a key member of the Davidson family. Henry was only 2 years old but unfortunately got very sick very fast,” Davidson wrote.
“My mom, sister and I got Henry at the beginning of the pandemic and he saved our lives,” Davidson continued. “Not sure I’d even be around without him. He was the happiest and sweetest dog ever.”

Davidson then opened up about the special bond he shared with Henry telling fans he would “pee everywhere” when he saw the funnyman.
“When I was working at SNL my mom would send me videos of him watching, smiling and making noise when I came on screen,” he wrote. “I don’t ever really watch any of my stuff with anyone as I’m far too scared but I didn’t mind watching with Henry.”
Davidson closed his tribute to Henry by remembering the pup as “truly the best.”
“We love you Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters.”
