Phillip Schofield axed by major charity as his role is ‘no longer appropriate’

Former This Morning host Phillip Schofield has been dealt another blow, while being under fire for admitting to lying about an affair with a younger male ITV colleague.

The daytime TV star has now been removed from his role as an Ambassador for The Prince’s Trust.

Although his image still features on the website alongside King Charles and other Ambassadors, the presenter is no longer associated with the charity.

A Prince’s Trust spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “In light of Phillip’s recent admissions, we have agreed with him that it is no longer appropriate to work together.”

Phillip’s own website has also been updated to reflect the news.

Prior to the recent scandal, Phil’s website stated on the “About” page that he was an ambassador for the charity, which was founded by King Charles III back in 1976.

It read: “Outside of work, Phillip is an Ambassador for the charity The Prince’s Trust, dedicating time to further the work of supporting vulnerable young people in the UK.”

It now merely states that he is “broadcaster, author, and wine-lover”.

The site, however, still has a link to the This Morning website, despite Phil’s dramatic exit from the show.

The show has now removed him from the banners on the homepage.

The Prince’s Trust’s decision comes following Phillip’s admission that he had a “not wise, but not illegal” affair with a much younger colleague on This Morning.

Phillip released a statement to MailOnline on Friday confirming the news.

In it, he said that he met the man in question “when he was a teenager” wanting help to get onto television.

Phillip then said: “It was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship.

“That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over,” he stated.

Phillip was also missing from The Prince’s Trust Awards earlier this month while his former This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby attended amid their reported feud.

The Prince’s Trust Awards recognise young people who have succeeded against the odds, improved their chances in life, and had a positive impact on their local community.

Just five days after Phillip didn’t show up to the awards, he announced his resignation from This Morning with “immediate effect” after working on the show for almost 20 years.

He made the statement regarding his affair six days later.
