Phillip Schofield was back on This Morning on Wednesday after his Covid-enforced absence and welcomed with open arms by his co-host Holly Willoughby as he joked about feeling ‘bullet proof’.
As the show began, 40-year-old Holly exclaimed delightedly: ‘Look who’s back!’
Phillip smiled before joking: ‘You realise I am now fully anti-bodied up – you could now lick my face!
‘I’m bullet proof for 90 days – allegedly.’
The pair then joked about the angry emails his comment on face-licking could provoke as they reminded viewers that they had promised to do that when they were allowed to sit near each other again, with Holly adding: ‘We’ll work up to licking.’
She then commented: ‘My leg is actually touching your leg under the table!’ as Phillip quipped that it was ‘like a first date’.
The 59-year-old also revealed that during his eight full days stuck in the house he had ‘cleaned every single cupboard in the kitchen’ as well as binged a lot of TV and found a new favourite show.
‘This Is Us – what a discovery!’ he exclaimed.
The star had been forced to miss work for a week, including Dancing On Ice, after testing positive for the virus.
On Monday, he was absent from the ITV programme again – with Alison Hammond filling in for him – but shared some promising news that afternoon.
In his Instagram Stories, Phillip posted a photo of his latest Lateral Flow Test with only one red line, meaning he is likely no longer contagious or even free of Covid.
‘Oh hello! What do we have here?’ he commented alongside the photo.
It came as a surprise to the presenter as just a few hours before, he tested positive with an LFT and told his followers while clearly frustrated: ‘OH COME ON!!! This is getting so bloody dull now!!! Day 7. I am seriously going out after this.’
Over the weekend, Phillip apologised to his This Morning and Dancing On Ice co-host Holly Willoughby for leaving her to host with guest presenters over the past week.
‘This really is the day that keeps on giving!! Sorry @thismorning @hollywilloughby,’ he said on Sunday.
That evening, Phillip watched Dancing On Ice from home and jokingly gave a warning to his replacement, Stephen Mulhern, about getting ‘too comfortable’ in his job.
