The Phoenix Mercury will officially be without Brittney Griner for the next couple of games.
Phoenix announced late on Saturday night that Griner will be away from the team as she deals with her mental health.
Griner, of course, spent most of 2022 inside a Russian prison. She was released and returned to the United States thanks to a deal from President Joe Biden.
Now, Griner has returned to the WNBA, though she’ll be out of action for the next two games.
“Mercury center Brittney Griner will not travel with the team on its upcoming two-game road trip to Chicago and Indiana (July 30-August 1) to focus on her mental health. The Mercury fully support Brittney and we will continue to work together on a timeline for her return,” the team announced.

The Mercury will be without their All-Star post player for the next two games, at least.
It’s unclear if Griner will return to play to start the team’s next home stand.
Our thoughts are with Griner as she works on her mental health while her team is away. Hopefully, we will see Griner back on the court at some point later this summer, if not sooner.
