Howie, the largest pumpkin on record grown in Colorado, was carved at Denver Botanic Gardens’ York St. location by professional carver Willy Tuz on Halloween day, Oct. 31, 2022.

The pumpkin weighing in at 1,783 pounds was grown in Parker, Colorado by Chad New. Tuz is a current finalist on the Food Network’s “Halloween Wars” show. Tuz carves everything from vegetables and fruit to wood, ice and snow with his company Fruit Designs.

Visitors watched the live carving throughout the day. Tuz and his crew of carving artists took 4 hours to carve the massive pumpkin. The carved pumpkin will remain on display through Thursday, Nov. 3 or until it starts to decay.
