CityDance San Jose attracted over a hundred dancers to the Circle of Palms to learn Bollywood dancing outside the San Jose Museum of Art. Akshay Savale, director of Starrz Dance Academy of Performing Arts, a Bollywood Dance company based in Cupertino, led a group in a step-by-step tutorial on how to dance to several songs.
Dancers of all ages jumped, jiggled and swung their arms as the sun set over the palm trees, including a spry 92-year-old J.F. White, who danced throughout the evening.
The monthly series kicked off with salsa in June, Bollywood this month, followed by cumbia (Aug. 18) and K-pop (Sept. 15). Dancing starts at 6 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. The dancing is free, and so is admission to the San Jose Museum of Art on CityDance nights.
