PHOTOS: Rockets celebrate memorable home win over James Harden, Nets

Six players scored in double figures. Young players like Garrison Mathews and Josh Christopher grew up and became local heroes in front of nearly 16,000 fans at Toyota Center — the largest home crowd for the Houston Rockets since before the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Oh, and Wednesday’s win came against the title contending Brooklyn Nets (17-8), who own the best record in the Eastern Conference and are led by former Houston star James Harden. It was clearly a joy for the players, coaches, and fans, who watched the Rockets (8-16) continue to shake off an awful start to the 2021-22 NBA season by extending their historic winning streak to seven games and counting.

Understandably, as the epic game neared its conclusion, it was a time to celebrate for one of the NBA’s youngest teams. Here’s how the Rockets and their fans reacted to Wednesday’s statement win over Brooklyn.

Houston will look to continue its improbable run when they wrap up a four-game homestand with Friday’s game versus reigning NBA champion Milwaukee. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Central.
