Alameda’s Christmas Tree Lane, a cooperative effort put on by more than 50 households, lights up the night again this holiday season.
The yearly tradition goes back to 1938 but was briefly halted during World War II for security reasons. The stretch between High Street and Fernside Boulevard dazzles with colorful lighting displays, some coordinated with music, lawn decorations and a median strung with lights.
Resident participation is not mandated, but it seems like most want to join in on the fun.
Local groups including the Dancing Christmas Trees and the Lincoln Middle School band perform, and kids can drop off letters to Santa in a specially designated mailbox that routes them to the North Pole. Wait, how many stamps does that take?
The display will run through New Year’s Day; more info can be found at www.facebook.com/christmastreelane.
