Picsart Adds AI-Powered Image Generation And Copywriting Tools

Picsart, the Miami-based creative platform, has integrated AI technology to its app, adding generative tools for images and copy. The announcement lined up with Picsart CEO Hovhannes Avoyan’s appearance at the Web Summit in Lisbon.

Picsart’s AI Image Generator is based on a mix of an open-sourced Stable Diffusion model and in-house technology. The technology is now available on Picsart’s Web Editor, as well as on iOS in English-speaking countries. Picsart says it has over 150 million monthly active users.

The AI Image Generator works like you would expect: Type in descriptive text of what you’re looking for and it will generate images in seconds. Picsart’s offering is unique because users can edit the image within the app right after, likely reducing a step in a creative’s workflow. Upon completion, the entire Picsart community can use the generative AI content.

The AI Writer can write ads, make marketing slogans and create social media bios with just a few simple prompts, including tone and voice. AI Writer and a variety of AI-powered writing tools are currently live in Picsart’s subscriptionless Quicktools web offering. The tool is based on OpenAI’s GPT-3.

To an audience who might not be experienced in using complex design software, generative AI has the most promise. A growing number of small business marketers are using self-serve, drag-and-drop tools for online marketing. Generative AI can break the learning curve most newbie designers have to endure, without hiring a design professional or taking an online course.

Picsart isn’t the only creative company that has embraced AI. Adobe showed off a generative AI tool that is coming to Adobe Express that can generate creative templates from a prompt. That tool, however, falls short of generating images. In a partnership with OpenAI, Shutterstock will allow clients to create and license stock images powered by DALL-E.

Copyrights, ethics and fair use have been questioned when it comes to generative art. A Picsart spokesperson said the company is exploring ways to compensate artists who may have inspired the generative art. Aside from taking ethical use of its AI seriously, the company also said it maintains strict and updated restrictions on these features to ensure the safety of its users.
