MILTON — Pierce Middle School in Milton went into lockdown on Friday after bullets were found in three separate bathrooms.
The first bullet, which was live 9mm bullet, was found shortly after 10 a.m. by a teacher in the sink of a second floor bathroom.
After Milton Police were notified of the live bullet, the school went into lockdown, and Boston Police and Quincy Police were called to help assist in a sweep of the school. During the investigation, more bullets were found in two separate bathrooms.
After the sweep was over, the lockdown transitioned to a stay-in-place and lunches were delivered to students, who were able to move about in their classrooms.
“On behalf of the Milton Public Schools, I want to extend my gratitude to the students and staff for how they conducted themselves during this highly stressful situation,” said Superintendent of Milton Public Schools James F. Jette in a statement. “Everyone followed the protocol that we have in place in the event of these emergency situations.”
