Pininfarina builds tribute to racing legend that goes from 0-60mph in 2 seconds

The Italian design company Pininfarina have revealed a new hypercar which will make its debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023.

The Battista Edizione Nino Farina is said to be a celebration of the Formula 1 driver Nino Farina and the design work of his nephew Battista.

Paolo Dellachà, the Chief Executive Officer for Automobili Pininfarina, explained what makes the new high-performance model so special.

He said: “The Battista Edizione Nino Farina represents the vision of our talented design team, paying an evocative tribute to an undisputed legend of the Pininfarina family and its heritage.

“In our imagination, Nino would have dreamt to drive with his uncle Battista, pushing the car to its limits, as he did every time he raced.”

Founded in 1930, Pininfarina has designed everything from family hatchbacks like the Peugeot 306 to iconic supercars such as the Ferrari Testarossa.

However, it’s rare for Pininfarina to make a model to celebrate its own history, with the hypercar sharing various styling cues with Nino Farina’s racecar, including its distinctive Rosso Nino red paintwork and a laurel wreath underneath the large rear spoiler.

On the inside, the Battista Edizione Nino Farina will feature a two-tone beige and black Alcantara leather interior and ’01’ graphics in gold on the headrests, referencing Nino’s victory at the 1950 Formula 1 World Championship.

The Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina will feature four electric motors, offering all-wheel drive, and a Formula 1-style launch control system.

As a result, Pininfarina claims it will accelerate from 0-60mph in just 1.79 seconds and reach a top speed of 217mph.

The Battista Edizione Nino Farina is also said to be the fastest braking electric model in the world, being able to stop from 62mph in only 31 metres.

However, the Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina will never be popular, with the company revealing that only five will be made.

Paolo described what the lucky few buyers can expect from the new hypercar when orders are placed.

He explained: “Our clients demand rarity, exclusivity, and the quality of execution synonymous with unique and coachbuilt Pininfarina designs in the past.”
