October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s common during this time to see many brands donate a portion of proceeds to breast cancer research.
Bars and restaurants are no exception and many are also doing something pretty special during this important time. These cocktails are not just beautiful and delicious, but also donate a portion of proceeds to supporting breast cancer awareness.
So, drink up! What a great reason to order a speciality cocktail.
Bad and Boozy for the Boobies
Note Restaurants (Note Kitchen & Bar and Notch8) in Bethel, Connecticut will be offering a Bad and Boozy for the Boobies cocktail. Both restaurants will donate $2 for every drink sold to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Note Kitchen & Bar manager Allie Dunn created this cocktail to increase awareness and generate more donations to fight breast cancer. Notch8 bar manager Kevin Leger said: “We chose the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to honor my mother, Margaret “Peggy” Leger, and her fight against breast cancer. Mom showed me the meaning of the word “tough,” not missing a day of work throughout her treatments. Mom was a badass, and she loved a good drink. We’re dedicating this cocktail to all the badass women who have fought and are fighting breast cancer as tough as my mom, Peg. Cheers!” Tony Heslin, owner of both locations added: “I can’t think of a better way for my staff and our restaurants to use our creativity. My mother is a breast cancer survivor because of the generosity of people selflessly donating to fight this terrible disease, which touches us in many ways.” This cocktail is made with Grey Goose Rosemary & Peach Essence, Lillet Blanc, muddled raspberries, lime juice, and simple syrup.
Pink Prickly Pear Paloma
The Pink Prickly Pear Paloma from Isla & Co in Dallas is made with 512 tequila, lime, prickly pear and jalapeño. The cocktail is exclusively offered at the Dallas location for the time being and helped raise funds for the Mammogram Poster Girls, for those in need of access to mammograms. Parched Hospitality’s Beverage Director Jeremy Ortiz said: “One thing I learned really quickly in Texas was that they sure do love ranch water. In support of Breast Cancer Awareness I wanted to play off that style while adding some Texas flair.”
Strawberry and Thai Basil Mojito
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Le Colonial, the French-Vietnamese eatery located in the Buckhead Village District of Atlanta, is mixing up a pink cocktail with proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. For the entire month of October, the restaurant will serve up a Strawberry and Thai Basil Mojito featuring Diplomatico Blanco Rum, lime juice, fresh strawberries, and Thai basil leaves. 100% of proceeds from each cocktail sold will be donated to the foundation. “With more than 266,000 breast cancer diagnoses every year, it’s nearly impossible to find someone who has not in some way been affected by this disease. We’re honored to be donating 100% of proceeds from our Strawberry and Thai Basil Mojito this month to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Lyn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation who support treatment and research,” said Joe King, owner of Le Colonial.
The Pink Palace
The Don CeSar Lobby Bar in Florida’s St. Pete’s Beach will feature The Pink Palace cocktail. This is a bubbly pink drink made with Don CeSar Rosé, Chambord and Tito’s vodka – with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Moffitt Cancer Center. “A refreshing, bubbly cocktail, with a bright pink color that is sure to make you smile! What’s better than sipping a pink cocktail at the pink palace and supporting breast cancer awareness month,” said Cole Leigel, Director of Outlets.
The Pink Lady & Her Best Friend
At E3 Chophouse in Nashville, The Pink Lady features Gin Lane 1751’s ‘Victoria’ Pink gin and rose water, while Her Best Friend features Standard Proof Ginger Rye whiskey, made from a local Nashville distiller. The liquor brands are donating 50% of their profits this month to The Pink Agenda. “It’s truly remarkable that we can offer our guests an elevated experience and at the same time participate in conscious capitalism, benefiting organizations like The Pink Agenda, who are working to make breast cancer history,” said Jennifer McDonnell, Director of Events, E3 Chophouse Nashville.
The Fighter
At The Hampton Social, The Fighter is made with Sneaky Fox vodka, blackberry pear thyme shrub, lemon and ginger beer. $1 of each cocktail will be donated back to The American Cancer Society. “Parker Hospitality is incredibly proud to support the American Cancer Society’s work to save lives from breast cancer,” said Brad Parker, Founder / CEO of Parker Hospitality.
Jalapeño Strawberita
At The Fifty/50 Sports Bar in Chicago, the Jalapeño Strawberita is made with Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila, strawberry, jalapeño, cucumber, and lime juice. For the month of October, The Fifty/50’s external signage will be adorned by a massive sports bra and the restaurant will turn pink – complete with pink cups and staff wearing pink shirts. They will also donate $1 from every sale of the Jalapeño Strawberita to the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. “Perfect balance of sweet and spicy, the strawberry compliments the jalapeno and rounds out the spice. A toast to Chicago summer,” said Jason Goree, General Manager and Bar Manager at The Fifty/50 Sports Bar.
Paloma for the Cure
At Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans, the Chandelier Bar will offer a Paloma for the Cure made with Maestro Dobel Diamante, ruby grapefruit juice, lime, and Q Sparkling Grapefruit Soda. For each Paloma for the Cure sold during October, $1 will be donated to Ochsner Health. “One of the core values at the Four Seasons is being involved in our community and we are proud to partner with Ochsner Health,” said Mali Carow, general manager. “This October, we want our community to know we stand with them and support them through any challenge they face. It is our privilege to join the fight against breast cancer and be able to donate to essential breast surgery recovery.”
Frosé for a Cause
At Toasted Yolk Café locations nationwide, they will be donating $2 to the Susan G Komen Foundation for every Frosé sold during the month of October. The Frosé is made with Tito’s, rosé wine and strawberry puree all mixed to form a perfectly pink frozen cocktail.
Pink Negroni
Located inside San Diego’s The Guild Hotel, The Guild Bar is serving up a Pink Negroni throughout the month of October. Created specifically for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the cocktail is made with gin, lillet rose, dry vermouth and sherry and garnished with micro princess flowers. The drink costs $14 and $10 from every drink sold will be donated to Susan G. Komen.
Hibiscus
At The Katharine Brasserie in Winston-Salem, Hibiscus is a spin on a mezcal Old Fashioned. The drink features Casamigos Mezcal, Bitterman’s Scarborough Bitters, The Katharine’s house-made hibiscus simple syrup and is then garnished with an orange peel and berry as a finishing touch. One dollar from each purchase goes directly to Pretty in Pink Foundation, to continue efforts against breast cancer and to help those who are uninsured. “Breast cancer is a very personal subject for me. One of my mother’s dearest friends lost her battle when I was growing up. That was my first real experience with cancer and I know she would have been a huge part of my life had she survived. What I love most about my job is that my cocktail program can give back to our community in more ways than one. Supporting Pretty in Pink and helping those that are uninsured get the medical support they need was such an easy decision for our team,” said Justin Rankin, Lead Bartender of The Katharine Brasserie.
