The Congress party in charge of Karnataka and INC (Indian National Congress) general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the ‘half baked’ metro line on March 25. He also said that the move could endanger the public safety at Bengaluru.

In a press statement on Tuesday, Surjewala called the KR Puram – Whitefield metro line disconnected, disjoining and discontinuous, ahead of the inauguration. He said, “On 25th March, 2023; PM Modi will inaugurate a metro line from nowhere to nowhere. Once again it is a discontinuous, disjointed and disconnected metro line which will cause more problems to Bengalureans than it will solve. The only yield will be a media event of the Prime Minister riding a standalone metro that is disconnected from the existing metro line. It will also gravely endanger public safety”

The Congress leader also said that the KR Puram – Whitefield line doesn’t connect with the purple line which begins from Baiyappanahalli. “The construction of the metro line from Baiyappanahalli metro station to KR Puram metro station has not been completed. This portion of the metro line has to go over an electrified railway line and is not expected to be completed for the next 6 months. Clearly, there is no connectivity of the Purple metro line between Baiyappanahalli and KR Puram Metro Stations.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s arrival to Karnataka’s capital on March 25 is confirmed and he will inaugurate the 13 kilometers metro line between KR Puram and Whitefield. The KR Puram-Whitefield line will have 12 metro stations which include Whitefield, Channasandra, Kadugodi, Pattandur Agrahara, Sri Satya Sai Hospital, Nallur Halli, Kundalahalli, Seetharam Palya, Hoodi Junction, Garudacharpalya, Mahadevapura and KR Puram.
