With only a few hours to go until his highly anticipated NBA Summer League debut, Victor Wembanyama has had to deal with an unlikely distraction during his time in Las Vegas.
The No. 1 overall draft pick was the center of an altercation between his security and singer Britney Spears. Spears alleges that Wembanyama’s security slapped her in the face after she tapped the young player on the shoulder to get his attention.
Wembanyama says that Spears either grabbed him or attempted to grab him, prompting his security to act.
On Friday, Las Vegas police attempted to put an end to the speculation surrounding potential punishment in the altercation.

No charges will be filed in the incident, for either Wembanyama’s security or for Spears.
The singer released a statement on Thursday demanding an apology from either Wembanyama, his security or the San Antonio Spurs. None of the three parties have addressed that request.
Wembanyama is set to take on No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller in the marquee matchup of this year’s NBA Summer League.
It will be the first look at Wembanyama with other NBA-level talent, something many fans only got a glimpse of when he played a short series of games against G-League teams in the United States.
