POOCH PLAYGROUND: Popular parks now welcoming off-lead dogs

Ozone Reserve and Railway Reserve in Perth have officially been identified by the City of Perth as fenced, off-lead dog parks.

It comes after councillors agreed in December 2021 to put $140,000 in its 2022-23 budget towards expanding the existing dog park at Ozone Reserve in East Perth and creating a new fenced off-lead dog park at the northern end of Victory Terrace and Jewell Lane at Railway Reserve.

The city held public consultation in late 2021 on potential site locations for new dog parks in response to a growing levels of dog ownership among city residents.

Councillors unanimously agreed at a meeting last month to specify the two reserves as dog exercise areas in accordance with the Dog Act 1976.

Work began on both sites in November last year and they will be opened to the public by March this year.
