DOHA, 24th November, 2022 (WAM) — Portugal downed Ghana 3-2 in their 2022 FIFA World Cup opening match today.
After a scoreless first half, Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo opened his Qatar World Cup account from the spot to put his team ahead in the 65th minute, only for André Ayew to score the leveller for Ghana in the 73rd minute.
However, Joao Felix and Rafael Leao scored the other two goals for the Portuguese National Team in the 78th and 80th minutes respectively, before Osman Bukari netted the Ghanaian second in the 89th minute.
Ronaldo set a World Cup record after he became the first in history to score at least one goal in five editions of the tournament.
