Derrick Rose has turned into a journeyman in the latter stages of his NBA career.
The Phoenix Suns are reportedly interested in acquiring the former league MVP if he becomes available on the buyout market, per Bleacher Report.
Rose has fallen out of the rotation in New York and there’s a possibility he could hit the buyout market sometime this year.
After ridding themselves of some backcourt depth in the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade, the Suns are in search of some complementary ball-handling options alongside Chris Paul and Cameron Payne.
While the Suns would be interested if Rose became available, a buyout is reportedly unlikely. That being said, sources close to the situation say the Knicks haven’t completely shut the door on the buyout possibility
Rose is averaging just 5.8 points through 12.9 minutes per game this season. He hasn’t taken the court for a game since December 31.
The 34-year-old veteran is earning $14.5 million on his contract this season and the Knicks don’t plan on picking up his $15.6 million player option in 2023-24.
