Shortly after the Nuggets won the NBA Finals on Monday night, 10 people were wounded in a mass shooting in Denver.

This shooting occurred a little over three hours after Game 5. It took place a mile from Ball Arena, the home of the Nuggets.

The suspect in this shooting was one of seven people who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Three people left the scene in critical condition, according to the Denver Police Department.

“As far as what led up to this altercation that resulted in the shots being fired, that’s still under investigation at this time,” police spokesperson Doug Schepman said. “It did occur in the area where we had largest gathering of folks celebrating during the night.”

The sports world is understandably disturbed by this tragedy.

“We really can’t have nice things,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another person said, “Add another community to the continuously growing list of those left devastated as a result of our country’s Gun Violence Epidemic. It is again evident that more has to be done to stop the constant cycle of heartbreak.”

“Horrible, just horrible,” a third person tweeted.

The police department described their investigation as “expansive.”

Our thoughts are with those affected by this senseless shooting.
