Her first bundle of joy! Kate Chastain surprised fans in December 2022 when she announced she is expecting a baby.
“I feel so great. I feel so excited,” the Below Deck alum exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her newest reality TV project. “I knew as Traitors was coming out that I’d be doing a lot of interviews and I probably couldn’t hide it much longer, so surprise!”
That same month, Chastain opened up about her plans to raise her baby on her own. “I’m doing it solo and perhaps with some help, but I’m happy to do it alone,” she explained during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “I think being a chief stew really trained me for it.”
According to the Florida native, her celebrity friends such as Brandi Glanville have already offered insight into motherhood.
“[Brandi] already has given me parenting advice and it is great advice, enthusiastic,” Chastain said about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, who shares two sons with ex-husband Eddie Cibrian. “I’m really thankful I’m going to have Brandi as a parenting coach.”
The former chief stew also hinted that she already knew her baby’s sex, adding, “I’m saving that a little bit.” For Chastain, it was important to pick a “family name” for her baby.
The reality star’s exciting news came more than two years after her exit from Below Deck.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, I have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new land based role,” she wrote via Instagram in February 2020, jokingly referencing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s statement about stepping back from the royal family. “I intend to step back as a senior member of the Below Deck Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support His Majesty Andy Cohen.”
The TV personality, who appeared on the hit Bravo series from season 2 to season 7, was previously linked to former costar Ben Robinson before she moved on with Ro Hernandez. Since then, Chastain has chosen to remain tight-lipped about her dating life.
In August 2021, the former Bravo Chat Room host admitted that she was having fun as a single woman in Florida. “I had a great date last night,” she exclusively told Us at the time. “I’m getting back into the dating world quite a bit after the pandemic year so it’s great.”
