Arsenal had to contend with a second-place finish despite mounting a title charge over a large part of the campaign, while Manchester United and Newcastle United claimed the remaining two Champions League spots.

Liverpool and Brighton, on the other hand, secured Europa League spots for the upcoming season. Leicester City, Leeds United, and Southampton faced dejection as the three sides were relegated to the second division – the Championship.
Just like every other season, a number of big records were created, matched, or broken during the ten-month campaign. Here we take a look at a few of those records:
– Manchester City star attacker Erling Haaland set a new record for the most goals scored by a player in a single Premier League campaign, ending the season with 36 goals – the most by a top-flight player in England since Ron Davies in 1966-67 (37).
– Despite having led the league for 248 days, Arsenal finished the 2022-23 Premier League season in second place. This was the most days a team has led in the English top division without taking home the league title.
– Son Heung-min of Tottenham became the first Asian to reach 100 Premier League goals following his goal against Brighton in Spurs’ 2-1 win.
– Casemiro is one of only two players to be sent off twice in his first Premier League season as a Manchester United player after Darren Fletcher in 2003-04. He is also the first player to earn two red cards in a single Premier League season for Manchester United since Nemanja Vidic in 2013-14.
– Liverpool defeated Manchester United by a scoreline of 7-0, breaking their previous record (7-1 in the second tier), accomplished in October 1895. It was also Manchester United’s joint-worst defeat in a competitive match along with losses by 7-0 scores against Wolves in December 1931, Aston Villa in December 1930, and Blackburn Rovers in April 1926.
– Joo Felix became the first player to be sent off on his Chelsea debut in the Premier League and the first player to be sent off on his Premier League debut since Federico Fazio in October 2014 for Tottenham vs. Manchester City.
– Liverpool midfielder James Milner made his 600th Premier League appearance in a 3-1 win over Southampton, becoming the fourth player to hit that milestone after Gareth Barry, Ryan Giggs, and Frank Lampard.
