Conte outlines what Tottenham can achieve before end of season

Tottenham are at risk of having their move for Porto winger Luis Diaz hijacked by another Premier League club, according to reports.

Spurs have failed to sign anyone during the January transfer window as of yet but are keen on securing the services of the Colombian before deadline day on Monday.

And the north London club have already had a bid rejected by the Portuguese outfit, although it is unlikely to mean the end of the saga for Antonio Conte’s side.

Liverpool are long-term admirers of the 25-year-old, who has highly impressed this season, but have yet to make any official approaches.

But according to Inside Futbol, via Colombian broadcaster Win Sports TV, an unnamed Premier League club are prepared to hijack any transfer to Tottenham and sign him themselves.

Should Spurs increase their offer to sign Luis Diaz this month? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

The Portuguese champions currently value their star player at around £67m, with two-and-a-half years remaining on his existing deal thought to play a part in that.

Diaz has already registered 14 goals in 18 Primeira League outings this term, which has put multiple clubs on high alert, as he dazzles in the top flight.

But Diaz has been linked with a move away from Porto for a while and it could very well be on the cards this month.

Spurs have already shown a genuine interest in signing him with their official bid, although they could be outbid by a league rival.

The club in question are reportedly set to table a bid in the coming days ahead of the transfer deadline day on Monday, which is sure to make Conte and co sweat.

And this mystery club has been labelled as a ‘heavyweight’, suggesting it could even be one of the ‘top six’.

Liverpool immediately springs to mind given Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for the player, but nothing has been confirmed.

However, given Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane remain at the Africa Cup of Nations, along with the fact that the league title is still in sight after they closed the gap on Man City over the weekend, this could be a possibility.

Diaz has 14 goals this season

But Spurs are in desperate need of new signings this month themselves if they are to push for a top four spot – which is very much in their own hands given their recent turnaround under Conte.

The involvement of another club could certainly encourage Spurs to act fast and offer what Porto are looking for, in order to risk missing out on their target and seeing one of their league rivals strengthen at their expense.

Diaz is also supposedly keen on a move to the Premier League and is weighing up his options, and with at least two top flight clubs going head-to-head for his signature, a move to England is beginning to look increasingly likely.
