Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a humorous weather report about “cloudy” conditions in Crimea following an audacious attack on a bridge into the Russian controlled territory.
Mr Zelensky also added that the future for Ukrainians was “sunny”.
He said: “Today was a good and mostly sunny day in our country.
“Over most of the territory, it was about 20 degrees Celsius and sunny.
“Unfortunately, it was cloudy in Crimea, although it was still warm.
“But however the clouds are, Ukrainians know what to do, and they know that our future is sunny.
“This is the future without invaders, on all our territory, in particular in Crimea.”
The attack happened just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s 70th birthday.
Writing on Twitter Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine shared a post with a footage of the damaged bridge and a video of Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday Mr President”.
A senior Ukrainian official told The New York Times that the Russian President should be pleased with his present.

Russia has claimed that a truck bomb was behind the blast and have responded by increasing security at the bridge.
Vladimir Putin issued a decree hours after the attack announcing that the internal FSB security service would be responsible for the improved protective measures.
Russian law enforcement officials have identified Samir Yusubov, 25, from the Krasnodar region in Russia as the alleged owner of the truck that exploded in the bridge.
However they have yet to identify who was driving the truck when it exploded.
