BRITS wanting to get some sun this Christmas can bag a holiday at a rock bottom price.

Travelling during the festive period usually costs a fortune, but airlines and holiday companies are selling bargain trips due to a reduced demand for travel caused by Omicron.

The new variant of coronavirus has led to travel uncertainty, meaning a lot of Brits aren’t confident enough to book a trip away in the coming weeks and months.

But for those of you who are, there are bargains to be had.

The Independent has reported that TUI is selling a two-week holiday in Costa Blanca over Christmas and New Year for £345pp, including flights, luggage, transfer and accommodation.

Flights leave from Cardiff on December 18 and return on January 1, 2022.

If you just fancy one week away over Christmas, Jet2 is offering a seven-night stay in Faro for £191, including flights, luggage and accommodation.

Flights leave from Birmingham on December 19 and return on Boxing Day.

If you’re just looking for cheap flights so you can get away for Christmas, Ryanair has got loads on offer.

The budget airline is offering £11 flights each way from London Stanstead to the Netherlands, leaving on December 22 and returning on Boxing Day.

On the same dates, Ryanair is offering flights to Oslo for £14 each way, and flights to Milan for £17 each way.

Low cost airline Wizz Air UK is offering flights on those dates to Malaga for £21 each way.

The low price does not include the additional costs travellers must pay for Covid tests.

Anyone returning to the UK must take a pre-departure test within 48 hours of arriving. They cost from £22.

Arrivals who are vaccinated must then take a PCR test and isolate until they receive a negative result. PCR tests cost from £42.50.

Unvaccinated arrivals must take an additional PCR test, at an extra cost.

While some travel companies are offering cheap deals as a result of travel uncertainty, others are cancelling flights and holidays.

British Airways has slashed more than 2,000 flights from its schedule until March next year as a result of travel uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

Ryanair has cancelled all flights to and from Morocco until February 1, 2022.

The Moroccan government has put a ban on overseas flights until next week as the world races to contain the new Omicron variant, but Ryanair has decided to extend the timeframe due to “a lack of clarity” from the country.

The boss of TUI has warned that his could be the next airline to cancel flights.
