There doesn’t seem to be any hope for reconciliation between King Charles and Prince Harry after the latter skewered Queen Camilla in his book, “Spare.”
The Duke of Sussex, 38, made some claims about his stepmom in his 410-page bombshell memoir — and now friends of the UK’s monarchs are giving some insight into the fallout from his written attacks.
A pal of Camilla, 75, told the Daily Beast recently: “How does she get past that? It’s one thing to call your stepmother a bitch privately or in a family argument. But to put it in a book which is catching up with the Bible on sales?”
“I think Harry knew exactly what he was doing, and the result is predictable. Charles loves Camilla. He made her queen. He doesn’t react very well to criticism of her,” the insider furiously stated.
In “Spare,” the Invictus Games founder alleges that Camilla leaked stories to the press about him and the rest of the royal family.
He also penned that he “begged” Charles, 74, not to marry her, as Harry believed that she would turn into his “wicked stepmother.”
Harry even claimed in a “60 Minutes” interview with Anderson Cooper during his tell-all promotional tour that Camilla was “dangerous” and branded her as a “villain.”
Camilla’s friend also added to the Daily Beast that Charles still “loves” both Harry and his older brother Prince William.
“The door will never be bolted shut,” the source said. “But they are a very obstinate family and nobody is about to be the first to apologize. Charles certainly doesn’t believe he has anything to apologize for.”
However, another acquaintance divulged to the publication that there are currently “no plans” for Harry and the sovereign to meet in the near future.
The person believed that there would have been a better chance for the estranged father-son duo to reunite had it not been for Harry’s autobiography.
“But Charles was dismayed and deeply hurt by what Harry said about him and about Camilla in his book,” the confidant noted.
The source then asserted that Charles is “prioritizing” being king and can’t have meetings with Harry as it would “be a distraction and very destabilizing.”
Royal expert Christopher Andersen declared last month that Harry has further “alienated” himself and his wife Meghan Markle from Charles and the rest of the family with his memoir.
The former actress, 41, and her husband took a step back from the Firm in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California.
Andersen spilled the English breakfast tea to Fox News at the time, saying that “the king hates being caught in the middle, but when push comes to shove, he will always choose Camilla.”
“I think every time the king considers handing Harry an olive branch, Camilla makes sure Charles is reminded of all the terrible things written about her in ‘Spare,’ ” Andersen said.
