Boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed is locked in a bitter family feud over his parents’ £12million fortune, according to his brother Ali.

The former featherweight world champion has been communicating with his siblings through only lawyers amid a row stemming from money he gave to his parents during his heyday. He gave his family funds to invest in property, which has now amassed a massive £12million value.

And the former boxer believes that he is owed all of that money after his mother passed two years prior. His eight siblings argue that it was a gift, not an investment, and as such he isn’t entitled to the massive eight-figure sum.

Now, his brother Ali has taken the matter public, telling The Sun that he believes the boxer’s recent weight gain has been a result of his guilt over the situation. Prince Naseem used to tip the scales at around nine-stone during his fighting peak, but cuts a completely different figure these days when spotted out and about.

“His weight is a result of the trauma and stress,” Ali said of his brother and their issues “He’s turned in on himself and just eaten and eaten.”

“So much of his wealth was p***ed up a wall,” the 44-year-old added. “Including on buying the biggest mango farm in Yemen that is now all dead and dishevelled.”

Ali, who is a personal trainer in Sheffield, believes that his downfall began after his public falling out with former coach Brendan Ingle at the later point of his career. Hamed retired from fighting at the age of just 28, five years after splitting from the late Irishman.

And now, his siblings believe that the ex-world champion is simply trying to take too much. “He’s just being greedy,” Ali added. “The more you eat in life, the more hungry you are.”

Ingle said at the time of their split that Hamed’s ego had gotten out of control, causing him to become untrainable and ending their relationship. “When you think you’re God you’ve got problems,” Ingle explained. “He’s away with the fairies, as they say back home.

“He can do what he wants and I am going to do what I want. I’ve had enough. His ego has just gone completely out through the roof now. He has become a legend in his own mind at the moment and he won’t listen to reason.”

The former fighter has previously worked as a pundit on ITV’s boxing coverage, as well as being spotted at a YouTuber boxing event last summer. He was in attendance to watch American social media stars Adam Saleh and Slim Albaher box at the Coca-Cola Arena for Social Knockout, both of whom are of Yemeni heritage.
