Coat dresses
Kate’s name is often synonymous with the coat dress. This hybrid fashion item is a favourite of the Princess, creating a sleek put-together look on even the coldest of days.
Megan reveals: “A coat dress is an easy way to stay stylish and warm. Last month, at the Queen’s one-year remembrance at St. At David’s Cathedral in Pembrokeshire, Kate wore a burgundy, belted version of the style, complete with matching fascinator and court shoes, gold detailing and a subtle v-neckline.
“This style is perfect to pair with a statement necklace and classic court shoes.”
The stylist added coat dresses are a key garment for autumn weddings or fancy occasions and she suggested we try one of the season’s hottest hues, like cherry red or 70s yellow.

A neutral blazer
A neutral blazer is a perfect staple for these upcoming transitional months, where the weather can change on a dime. Kate covets this tailored look which serves as the ultimate workwear inspiration.
Megan recommends: “Perfect for layering, style your blazer with cigarette trousers and this season’s on-trend shoe – a classic ballet pump.
“Opt for a tailored fit and a neutral colour for that ‘royal-appointment’ look. A blazer also works well as a day-to-night staple, being perfect for the workplace and date night or after-work drinks.”
The Princess of Wales recently rewore her Holland Parker pinstripe version, with matching trousers for a “seriously cool, yet still classy look.”
Princess Kate is known for her love ofr nautical stripes
Striped jumpers
Live your French fantasy with this Breton-inspired look. Whether she’s attending a royal engagement or on the school run, Kate’s love for nautical stripes is clear, the fashion retailer claims.
Megan suggests: “A striped jumper is timeless and should be a staple in every autumn/winter wardrobe.
“Kate normally opts for a crew-neck style which pairs nicely with dark jeans and white trainers.
“This is one of Kate’s more laid-back looks and is perfect for coffee with friends, casual lunches and crisp autumn dog walks.”
Sweater vests are back in fashion
The sweater vest
Sweater vests may have been branded old fashioned in the past but they are back in the fashion canon.
Megan says: “On a solo outing to the Vsi Razom Community Hub in Bracknell, the Princess of Wales opted for a more casual look than her normal blazer and trousers attire.
“A sweater vest is essential for autumn layering and should be a staple in every fashionista’s wardrobe.”
The stylist suggested choosing a neutral shade like white, black or grey to “up your sweater vest versatility and wear a shirt, t-shirt or long-sleeved top underneath for that effortless, laid back, chic look”.
She also tipped us to pair it with some matching trousers.
Tonal looks are Princess Kate’s signature look
Tonal pieces
Tonal looks are Princess Kate’s signature look, the retailer claims. Often seen in a matching coat and jumpers, colour-blocking keeps the Princess of Wales looking polished and put-together.
Megan explained: “Luckily, tonal dressing is really easy to emulate. However, always make sure your two items are not clashing as this can often make your look look disjointed.
“This season, go for a signature autumn shade like burgundy or forest green.”
