For the second straight season, a No. 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament has advanced to the Sweet 16.
Princeton beat No. 2 Arizona in the Round of 64, and then handedly defeated No. 7 Missouri in the Round of 32 by a final score of 78-63.
Now, they’ll take on No. 6 Creighton in the Sweet 16. Can the Tigers advance to the Elite 8 and shock college basketball fans across the country? Or, will the Bluejays end their Cinderella run?
Let’s dive into the odds for the game and then I’ll give you my prediction.
Princeton vs. Creighton odds, spread, and total
Princeton vs. Creighton prediction and pick
Princeton has been dominant through the first two games of the NCAA Tournament. There’s no denying it. But, I have to try to not get seduced by recent results and instead look at who Princeton has been as a whole this season.
Creighton is the much better team from top to bottom. For example, the Bluejays outrank Princeton 27th to 85th in effective shooting percentage while playing against much better competition.
Their path to victory against Missouri was by outrebounding them 44-30, including grabbing 16 offensive boards. That result made sense, considering the Tigers are one of the worst rebounding teams in the country.
Now, they take on a Bluejays team that has a 7’1 center while ranking 27th in the country in rebounding rate.
So, what’s Princeton’s path to victory? Seemingly, the only thing they can do to compete with the Bluejays is cashing in on as many three-point shots as possible. If they don’t, they could be in for a long night.
Creighton matches up well with Princeton, and I think they win with margin while ending Princeton’s Cinderella run.
