The Kentucky Wildcats got upset on the road against Notre Dame and we take a look at the projected college basketball rankings after big top-10 losses.
The Kentucky Wildcats entered the weekend as a top 10 team in the college basketball rankings but they won’t be leaving in the same standing. On Saturday, the No. 10-ranked team in the country went on the road to Notre Dame, their first real test (even if the Irish were just 3-4 coming into the matchup) since the season-opening loss to Duke.
In South Bend, Kentucky could never find their edge and, ultimately, a couple of last-minute buckets from Notre Dame sunk the Wildcats and gave John Calipari’s team the second loss of the season.
However, they aren’t alone. It’s been a week for top-10 teams going down in college basketball with No. 1-ranked Purdue and No. 7-ranked Texas also getting upset this week.
So how will that affect the rankings? Let’s dive into our projections.
Projected college basketball rankings after Kentucky, Purdue upsets
- Baylor Bears
- Duke Blue Devils
- UCLA Bruins
- Purdue Boilermakers
- Gonzaga Bulldogs
- Villanova Wildcats
- Kansas Jayhawks
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Arizona Wildcats
- Houston Cougars
- Texas Longhorns
- USC Trojans
- Iowa State Cyclones
- Arkansas Razorbacks
- Auburn Tigers
- Michigan State Spartans
- Kentucky Wildcats
- Seton Hall Pirates
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Tennessee Volunteers
Even that top 10 in the college basketball rankings is going to get shaken up quite a bit after the rest of this weekend.
Baylor and Villanova are set for a huge matchup on Sunday but we also have Alabama and Houston facing off on Saturday night as well. Suffice it to say, we’re getting mad already in college basketball and it’s not even March.
