One gangbanger caged for murder loves Los Angeles’ woke district attorney George Gascon so much he got a tattoo of the soft-on-crime courtroom neophyte.

With two recall efforts, Gascon’s hug-a-thug policies have been a bitter brew for his team of prosecutors, cops and crime victims.

Now, one veteran Los Angeles County prosecutor has written a letter slamming Gascon for turning the DA’s office into a “managerial dumpster fire.”
Gascon has raised eyebrows with a slew of progressive policies that grant easy bail, take special circumstances off the table and a refusal to prosecute juveniles charged with violent crimes as adults.

Former prosecutor Mark Burnley aired his grievances on his last day on the job. He was a prosecutor for 28 years.
“Until December 2020, I thought I had the best job in the world,” Burnley wrote of Gascon’s election. “I am constantly amazed by the expertise and knowledge of the DDAs in this office. They are deeply devoted and have a breathtaking amount of experience. It’s a shame you cannot or will not recognize that.”

Prosecutors had been told there would be no “dramatic” policy changes under Gascon, a former San Francisco cop. On the day he was sworn in, everything changed, Fox News reports.
“Many of us hoped, like Mark Burnley, that George Gascon could run a government office. He made it clear, from the first minute of his administration, that he could not,” Eric Siddall, vice president of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles County, told Fox News, adding that “nothing has changed since.”
“Gascon and his cronies have made Southwest Airlines’ executive team look like a bunch of managerial geniuses. Dedicated public servants are leaving the office in record numbers. Interest in joining the office is at a historic low. And the people of Los Angeles are paying the price. Burnley is right: competence matters.”

Critics claim Gascon’s policies enable criminals and ignore victims. Murder and other violent crimes have spiked since he took office.
In addition, he torpedoed a long-established policy of notifying crime victims about upcoming parole hearings for those who harmed them or their loved ones. Reps from the DA’s office are also barred.
Burnley said in his letter that he’s on board with a number of progressive policies, including alternative sentencing for some defendants and diversion programs for non-violent crimes.
“(But Gascon) exhibited a staggering lack of prosecutorial experience and knowledge. For example, you seemed completely unaware of how your policies would impact hate crime and financial crime prosecutions. The combination of arrogance and inexperience was obvious,” Burnley said.
He added: “Hopefully you will display more humility and less arrogance during the remainder of your term. What have you learned from the two recall efforts? It takes courage and integrity to conduct an honest self-assessment; I doubt you’re up to the task.”
