PS5 Pro To Release In November 2024, Insider Claims

We saw Insider Gaming’s report of the PS5 Pro being in development back in March. At the time, word was that the mid-generation upgraded console would become available sometime in 2024. Now, another report has surfaced with a more specific debut date, as well as some specs figures for the console.

This report comes courtesy of KeyToGaming, another website run by video games industry insider Tom Henderson. According to the report, the PS5 Pro is being developed with the codename Trinity, as work on the console started early last year. The report notes that work on the console has been going swimmingly, with demo events for it already ongoing. Studios will also be getting dev kits of the console by late November 2023.

The report also notes that the PS5 Pro “will be targeting improved and consistent FPS at 4K”, as well as a new “performance mode” for 8K. Two more bits of info on a supposed spec sheet includes 30WGP and 18,000mts memory, which really doesn’t say much in isolation. At the tail end of the report, there is a mention of a November 2024 release date, which is sort of the middle of the current console generation. It also sort of lines up with a previous TCL Tech presentation that claimed that a console generation 9.5 will be showing up either this year or the next.

All in all though, as with all such reports, it’s important to take them with a pinch of salt. While there have been a few prior reports that support this new claim, it remains to be seen if there will even be games that need more processing power than what the PS5 can offer to necessitate a Pro model.
