Second-seeded Se-young, who defeated Sindu in the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals, reached the quarter-finals in Dubai with a hard-fought straight games win against Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand. The Korean beat the Thai 21-19, 21-16 in a match that lasted for 46 minutes.
