When you think of gritty NBA players, Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes have to be two of the first names that come to mind. Now that they’re out of the league they are able to say pretty much whatever they want on their podcast All The Smoke.
The two former small forwards have teamed up with Buffalo Wild Wings for the ultimate NCAA Tournament experience where they will watch the first round games with a lucky fan.
We caught up with Jackson and Barnes to discuss how former NBA players would do in today’s game and how current players would do in the past. They also named which NBA players would be the best NFL players along with Barnes revealing that he almost left the NBA for the NFL.
When asked which current and former NBA players would be the best NFL players Jackson said Glen “Big Baby” Davis for his former player and Marcus Smart for his current player. For which current player would be the best NFL player Barnes said Anthony Edwards while adding that he would choose himself as the former NFL player.
On the topic of physical NBA players Barnes and Jackson named who they think would win a hypothetical NBA “Royal Rumble” which would consist of every NBA player ever wrestling in a ring to see who would be the last man standing. To nobody’s surprise they both answered with players from the 90s, a time when the game of basketball was much more physical. Among the players named were Shaq, Charles Oakley and Derrick Coleman.
In addition to these questions, Barnes and Jackson named their favorite NBA uniforms, NBA team names and the most underrated player they ever shared the court with. To see their answers checkout the full interview below
