Quality and show on the entry list of the Isla de Los Volcanes Rally – Spain’s News

The island of Lanzarote will receive on the 29th and 30th of this month the best teams that follow the 2022 Spanish Rally Super Championship (S-CER) and also the Canarian Land Rally Championship, with the Isla de los Volcanes-Trophy Reef City.

The 24th edition of the test organized by the CD. Evesport will have a team never seen in the Canary Islands in a competition of this type, with no less than 11 units of R5 or Rally2 type cars, divided between the 10 drivers who visit us from different parts of mainland Spain and the 19 Canarian drivers.

In total, some thirty high-flying teams, which are going to put on an impressive sporting spectacle in
the Lanzarote sections and the thousands of fans who will come from all overso as not to miss this third appointment of the S-CER and second of the Regional.

Although the organization’s forecasts estimated a greater number of registrants, instead the quality has improved substantially compared to past editions, with a balance
more reinforced among the possibilities of the Canarian pilots against the strong followers of the S-CER.

The top three finishers in the drivers section of this national competition will be the big favourites, as is the case of Iván Ares (provisional leader) and Pepe López, who drive two latest-generation Hyundai i20s, plus Efrén Llarena with the Skoda Fabia Rally2 with the one that coincides with the FIA-ERC, which follows a small difference in points. Seeking to catch up with the previous ones within the S-CER we have
Surhayen Pernía with another Hyundai i20 and the official Citroen driver, Alejandro Cachón, who will be the alternative in the fight for podium places of this XXIV Rally Island of the Volcanoes-Trophy City of Arrecife.

But above all, the current super champion José Antonio Suárez, also with Skoda Fabia Evo Rally 2, who despite his bad start to the season is always a great favorite.

On the Canary side, last year’s winner
Yeray Lemes repeats with Skoda Fabia Rally2, as does our representative in the national CERT, Juan Carlos Quintana, second in the 2021 edition. And another applicant with similar options is added to make his dream come true, since Kevin Guerra will be at the start with another Citroën C3 R5. The young man from Lanzarote Raúl Hernández will be the only one in the Rally4 category with a Peugeot 208 and drivers of the stature of Borja Pérez, Aníbal Machín, Daniel Guerra, Aníbal Hernández, Esteban Feo, Armiche Mendoza, Javier Sosa or Zósimo Hernández will not miss this event either. , among other pilots of the islands.

And after several absent editions, we will again have one of the most international rally-raid drivers in Lanzarote, Cristina Gutiérrez, who was already in the 2017 edition when the test aspired to enter the national championships.

Cristina, who this year has a dense preparation program for her next Dakar, combines this type of rallies with training with his participation in the Extreme-E, where he has the “master” Sebastien Loeb as a teammate. This time he will drive the VW Polo N5 of the Sport & You Canarias team.
