Queen ‘avoids fast food when possible’ but reportedly has ‘one guilty pleasure’

A former personal chef of Queen Elizabeth II has revealed what fast food items the Queen enjoys the most, and teased that she even personalises her order.

Darren O’Grady spent 15 years working in the Royal Kitchen as the Queen’s personal Chef, and has also cooked for Prince Harry, Prince William and Princess Diana during his time at Buckingham Palace.

He disclosed that Her Majesty would attempt to avoid fast-food as much as possible but that she had a fondness for one guilty pleasure — hamburgers.

Like many meat-eaters the Queen was a huge fan of the dish, but the former Royal Chef teased that the Queen had one unusual exception, as she would request for a burger to be served without a bun.

Whether that be brioche or with sesame seeds, the Queen was not a fan.

Despite there being an array of fast-food chains that now serve ‘gourmet’ hamburgers, Darren shared that the Queen would have her chefs prepare her burgers from scratch.

Darren said: “It always tickled me at Balmoral, we would make our own burgers. They would shoot deer, and we would do venison burgers.”

The Queen has an appetite for the French cuisine

Talking about the relish, he added: “There’d be gorgeous cranberry…stuffed into them, but we never set buns out.”

When the retired former Chef wasn’t whipping up carb-free burgers for her Royal Highness, he shared that the French cuisine was a popular option in the Royal vicinity.

The Royal Chef expressed that the Queen was not a fan of bread, as he revealed that she did not enjoy eating pizza – he shared that during his whole 15 years at the palace, not a single pizza was served.
