Queen Charlotte from the hit Netflix series Bridgerton is getting her own prequel spin-off, and GLAMOUR UK can exclusively reveal the first look picture at the younger version of the scheming, easily bored, snuff-sniffing, and ultimately pro-love Queen Charlotte.
In the Netflix image, which will be officially released during the streaming service’s fan event TUDUM event on Saturday 24 September, we can see actress India Amarteifio as young Queen Charlotte dressed in full regency ensemble for the limited series, which has been given the official title: Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Queen Charlotte, the real-life wife of King George III (you know, the dude that America revolutioned against in 1776), will also feature in the show.
A new logline released via Netflix reads: “Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”
Speaking at the Tudum event, Golda couldn’t help but gush about India’s acting prowess, stating: “We have this wonderful kind of tag team, where we high five each other, and the baton is passed on, which I think is a really beautiful metaphor for the older and younger… you know what I mean?”
With the exciting prequel coming to life, we cannot wait to hear more news about this upcoming series!
What is the show about?
I’ll tell you: It’s about Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, and Violet Bridgerton. “While the series will center on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte, it will also tell the stories of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury,” Netflix said in a press release upon its announcement earlier this year.
