A new trade body, ChargeUK, has recently formed and pledged a massive £6billion to upgrade the public electric car charging network.
By the end of 2023, the organisation hopes to double the number of EV chargers around the UK, which would bring the total to around 80,000.
Despite this, many are still worried about the number of charging stations, especially if they do not have chargers at their homes, or if they operate larger fleets.
Tristan Thomas, CEO and co-founder of Packfleet, a London-based all-electric courier, spoke about the need for more EV chargers around the capital and the rest of the UK.
It is estimated that just under a third of all UK charging points are in Greater London, with the South East of England coming in second.

Greater London alone has double the amount of EV chargers as Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales combined.
He said: “Drivers have recently begun to notice the queues forming next to EV chargers on the street, suggesting the shortages are beginning to show.
“We’ll always build chargers into our depots to reduce the number of times drivers need to stop and refill on the road.
“However, we do still need to know that we can charge our vans during a delivery trip.
“There’s a lot of noise around this issue – charging infrastructure is under the microscope.”
According to Zapmap data, there were 42,566 electric vehicle charging points across the UK at the end of April.
This represents a 37 percent increase in the total number of charging devices since April 2022.
There has been a massive jump in the number of EV chargers being installed in the last few years as the UK adjusts to the growing appetite for electric vehicles.
Mr Thomas added: “More EVs in the UK is a good thing, but having nowhere to charge them isn’t.
“With the main challenges identified, Governments and manufacturers can focus on working together by investing in areas in urgent need of new charging points.”
He added that more funding and investment for EV chargers would be “a positive step in the right direction”.
