Raheem Sterling speaks out on what Chelsea need from next manager

Raheem Sterling believes Chelsea need to trust their new manager to have the ‘final say on everything’ with organisation a problem in the recent chaotic spell for the club.

It has been a terrible time for the Blues, sitting 12th in the Premier League table after four straight defeats and closer, points-wise, to the relegation zone than the European places.

Frank Lampard is back in charge as interim manager and it is not going well, with the club legend clearly not the answer after Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel were both sacked earlier in the season.

Sterling says ‘this is one of the lowest points in my career’ but has ideas on how to improve it, which starts with hiring a manager who will grab the bull by the horns and really put their stamp on the club.

‘I’m not one to tell the club what to do but from what I can gauge from where I was previously, organisation is the most important thing,’ Sterling told Sky Sports. ‘Having a manager that has the final say on everything and it being his way with everyone having to follow that.

‘Successful teams always have a manager that comes in, brings his blueprint and everyone follows. If there are people that don’t follow, then they are not part of the team and that is how brutal it needs to be at a high level.

‘It’s a fine line between winning, coming second and being in the position we are now. It’s about everyone being on the same page from my experience.’

Lampard remains in charge as they travel to take on Bournemouth on Saturday, knowing that another defeat would see them sink below the Cherries in the table.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to take over from Lampard on a permanent basis over the summer, although no deal has been cemented yet.
