Rahul Gandhi is not talking about unemployment among eagles in his speech.  – Fact Crescendo | The leading fact-checking website in India

A video of Rahul Gandhi is going viral on social media. In this 28-second video, Rahul Gandhi can be heard saying, “Tell me what are these eagles doing here? Why are these eagles hanging around here? They are not getting any job for last 5 years. It is because of Narendra Modi, RSS and BJP.”

However, Fact Crescendo found that the video was edited and multiple clips of Rahul Gandhi’s speech was combined together to create the viral video. 

This video was created as Rahul Gandhi was talking about unemployment among eagles in his speech and blaming Modi government for the same. Below you can see the video.

Fact Check- 

In our research, we first tried to find out whether Rahul Gandhi really said that? A keyword search on YouTube led us to the original video uploaded on Indian National Congress YouTube Channel. Rahul Gandhi gave this speech on 5 February 2020 in Kondli area of Delhi. 

After watching the entire video, we found that Rahul Gandhi did not blame Modi and BJP for the unemployment of eagles in his speech. The viral video has been edited. In the viral video Rahul Gandhi made following three statements:

1. Explain one thing to me, what are these eagles and why are they flying here? What are these eagles doing here? Can anyone tell me? These birds are flying here, why are they flying here?
2. Since last 5 years they are unemployed
3. The reason for this is Modi and RSS

We did fact check on all the three statements of Rahul Gandhi and found out the real context behind these lines. Below you can read the fact check. 

Statement 1- 

From 9.37 minutes of the original video, Rahul Gandhi pointed to the birds flying in the sky and said: Tell me one thing, what are these eagles, why are they flying here? What are these eagles doing here? Can anyone tell? These birds are flying here, why are they flying here? There is dirt in the neighborhood so they are flying there. Tell me how much money do you think it will cost to clean up the garbage – 5 crore rupees, 10 crore rupees? Let’s assume it will cost 50 crores rupees. A few days ago, Narendra Modi waived loan of 1 Lakhs 30 crores of many rich people of the country.

Fact – Rahul Gandhi said that birds are flying in the sky because of the pollution in the area.

Statement 2- 

From 3.01 minutes of the original video, Rahul Gandhi said:

Young people don’t understand that for so many years they studied and passed exams in school, college, university. But they failed to get employment for the last 5 years. In any country, if the youth and the new generation do not see their future then anger arises in their hearts. Narendra Modi is reaping the benefits of that anger. But the main cause of anger is unemployment.

Fact – Rahul Gandhi spoke about unemployment among the youth.

Statement 3-

From the 1st minute of the original video, Rahul Gandhi said:

You must have seen that India’s environment had deteriorated significantly in the last few years. The unity, brotherhood and peace that was there earlier are nowhere to be seen now. Does everyone know the reason for this? Many will say that it is because of Narendra Modi, RSS or BJP. But I want to say something different. The biggest reason is that the people of India, especially our youth are scared. Why are they scared? They are scared of unemployment. 

Fact – Rahul Gandhi said that people are saying that the main reason for the deterioration of the condition of the country is Modi, BJP and RSS

Fact Crescendo found that the original video was altered and different clips from it were compiled together to create the viral video showing that Rahul Gandhi is talking about the unemployment among the eagles.
