Randy’s Donuts will mark its 70th anniversary with a party under the towering doughnut on the roof of its Inglewood store.
The celebration will take place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 14 with assists from a local icon.
SMiZe Cream, founded by Inglewood native and supermodel Tyra Banks, created an ice cream called You Bacon Me 70, featuring Randy’s Donuts maple bars and apple fritters. The flavor will be available at a pop-up at the celebration and also sold online at smizecream.com, according to a news release.
There will also be free Pink’s hot dogs while supplies last, the news release said, plus a DJ and a photo booth.
Classic doughuts will be on sale for 70 cents each, limit 12, at all of Randy’s locations 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the same date. And there will be anniversary merchandise for sale online and at the Inglewood store, 805 W Manchester Blvd.
Randy’s occupies the most famous of several doughnut shops built in Southern California in the 1950s with giant replicas of doughnuts on their roofs. It has been featured in numerous movies, TV shows and music videos, including Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.“
