Rangers fan guide to Liverpool ahead of next Champions League clash

RANGERS fans looking to get the inside knowledge on their Liverpool rivals for their next Champions League match should get themselves down to the city a few days early and book a tour of Anfield.

The stadium tour includes visits to the home and away dressing rooms, a walk through the players tunnel, a chance to sit in the dugout, views from the Main Stand, entry to the museum and the Boom Room – the story of Jurgen Klopp’s Dream Team.

There’s obviously no admission to certain part of the ground on the day of the big match on October 4 but you can book the hour and a half visit for October 2 to access all of the above. And why not? Liverpool is a fabulous city with so much more to see and do outwith the glorious game.

GETTING THERE
Jump in the car and in less than four hours the Liver Birds building will be in view. You can also let the train take the strain and be whisked down to the lively city on the Mersey in just over three and a half hours.

The train is probably best if you plan to return home the day after the match and plan a night out in the many pubs and bars to either celebrate or commiserate the result.

STAYING THERE

BEST PLACES TO EAT
If you don’t fancy getting up early but don’t want to wait until lunch, then brunch in Liverpool is for you. From full English breakfasts to a whole host of eggs, stacks of pancakes and signature dishes, there is something for everyone to start a day exploring the city.

Duke Street Market has a brunch menu which runs every Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 12pm.Guests can enjoy a range of dishes from all six kitchens, and the Market’s independent restaurant, Barnacle.

Dishes include brunch favourites like Eggs Benedict, Avocado on Toast, as well as Market specials including Salmon and Pastrami Hash and Breakfast Burritos.

BEST BARS
If you haven’t been lucky enough to get a ticket for the match and looking for somewhere to watch the football, then you’ll easily find a venue perfect for cheering on your team.

From sports bars to warehouses full of TV screens, outdoor gardens, huge Irish bars or cosy pubs, there are plenty of places in Liverpool to pull up a seat to watch the beautiful game.

Head over to the Royal Albert Dock to the Long Shot. It’s the perfect place to go for live sporting events, innovative cocktails, craft beers and food & drink.

The Bridewell is an old police station and the cells have been turned into seating areas, there’s outdoor seating for the summer months and they also show the football in their upstairs bar.
