Rangers fans advised not to travel to Liverpool by train

Rangers fans have been advised not to plan any train journeys to Liverpool for the upcoming Champions League game due to planned strikes.

Rail strikes are planned for the day after fixture with thousands of supporters expected to make the trip south.

Anyone planning on travelling to the game have been advised not to travel by train to avoid any disruptions.

The Rangers’ supporters liaison officer says more information will be available next week following a stadium visit.

Earlier in the week ASLEF union confirmed strike action will take place on Saturday, October 1 and Wednesday, October 5.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men travel to Anfield to play the English Premier League giants, and six time European Cup winners, on Tuesday, 4.

The Ibrox club have lost their opening two games and will be looking to take something from the double header with Jurgen Klopp’s men if they want to keep their hopes of a last 16 place alive.

On Friday the Rangers SLO tweeted: “Supporters traveling to Liverpool: Please note, due to potential industrial action on October 5, supporters are advised not to travel by rail for this fixture.

“Further travel information will be available following our stadium visit next week.”

On Tuesday ASLEF Union said: “ASLEF members at 12 companies will take action strike on Saturday 1st and Wednesday 5th October in our ongoing dispute over pay.”
