Ralf Rangnick has said he expects Paul Pogba to be out for around six weeks, while Lou Macari has told the manager to “get rid” of any players

With their Premier League season stuttering and a testing Champions League draw against Atletico Madrid to come, the FA Cup represents Manchester United’s best chance of silverware this season.
Manager Ralf Rangnick has found life difficult at Old Trafford to start with, as the team have turned in sluggish performances and apparent dissatisfaction in the squad has made its way into the public sphere.
A good cup run could help lift the mood around the Theatre of Dreams though and the visit of Aston Villa on Monday – with former nemesis Steven Gerrard in charge – should be enough to ignite the fanbase.
Here are your latest United headlines ahead of that encounter.

Pogba fitness update
Rangnick has confirmed it could be another six weeks before Paul Pogba is available again after the Frenchman suffered an injury setback.
The midfielder has not played since November 2, having suffered a thigh injury while away on international duty with France.
Pogba was initially expected to be available in early 2022, but Rangnick has confirmed the club will have to wait a little longer the see the playmaker back on the pitch.
“As far as I know, I was told a week ago, it would be a minimum of at least another four or five weeks before he is fit for training again,” Rangnick said of the player, who is out of contract in the summer.
“I saw him this morning before the training session, he was in the locker room, and I hope he will be back as soon as possible.”

Rangnick told to be ruthless
Former United player Lou Macari has encouraged Rangnick to be ruthless when dealing with any players who may be a disruptive influence in the dressing room.
Reports have suggested there is disharmony in the camp following a tough season and despite Rangnick being relatively new to the role, some players are said to be unhappy with the training methods.
Macari, who spent 11 years at United as a player, thinks the new boss should not hesitate to cull those who are not of the right attitude. And he said so on the club’s own MUTV channel.
“Anyone kicking off in the dressing room, kick them out of the club,” he said. “Get rid of them and I’m talking about the players doing that by the way.
“70,000 United supporters can’t be wrong every week. These players have to start showing something.”

Fernandes linked to Barcelona
According to reports in Spain, should Barcelona fail to land Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland this summer they will move for Bruno Fernandes instead.
Haaland has been linked with a number of the biggest clubs in European football including Barcelona, although the club’s financial situation and the team’s struggles in La Liga may make a deal difficult.
Fernandes is said to be a back-up plan, albeit the two play in different positions.
The Portuguese midfielder has been largely sensational since moving to Old Trafford from Sporting CP, but this season he’s struggled to make the same kind of impact. Fernandes has scored just two Premier League goals since his opening-day hat-trick against Leeds United.
