RAJKOT: In what could be a big setback for Mumbai, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is likely to miss Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game against Assam at Guwahati, which kicks off on January 10, after being hit by a bout of gastroenteritis and has been advised rest for a few days.
“Yes, he isn’t well and didn’t appear at the airport (when the team departed for Guwahati),” a source confirmed to this paper. He revealed that India’s pace bowling allrounder Shardul Thakur will be Jaiswal’s replacement in the Mumbai squad.
In four games this season, the left-handed opener has scored 301 [email protected], with a hundred (162 vs Hyderabad at BKC) and a fifty each.

With former India pacer Salil Ankola, who was the Mumbai chief selector since 2020, being named as the national selector, the Mumbai Cricket Association will soon appoint a new chief selector.
