Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh has shrugged off criticism over the 18-year age gap with her partner Louis Church.

The journalist and TV presenter first joined the programme in 2014, before becoming the Political Editor three years later.

Then, in 2020 ,she joined the 18th season of Strictly Come Dancing, where she made it to week eight with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

It was while appearing on the reality series that she also met her partner, who was a producer on the show.

First making their romance public at the end of 2021, at the time Ranvir said she was ‘really happy’.

While some eyebrows may have been raised when Ranvir, now 44, announced she was dating Louis, 26, it still doesn’t faze her.

‘I don’t see an age gap,’ she said.

‘What really matters in any kind of relationship in life is a synchronicity of values and emotions. I don’t know why we’re so obsessed with the age gap.

‘As we are, right now, we are blissfully happy and Louis lives very much in the present,’ she added when speaking to Woman & Home magazine, as per Huffington Post.

Ranvir also shared she knew her partner was ‘special’ from the first time they met on set.

‘I was doing three jobs and I’ve never been more tired. I was slumped in my chair at 7am,’ she said.

She then recalled how he appeared with a green tea, Berocca, Haribos and KitKat, to which she thought: ‘That is exactly what I want.’

‘From that moment, he has instinctively known exactly what I need.’

Ranvir was previously married to ex-husband Ranjeet Singh Dehal for eight years, with their split confirmed just before she appeared on Strictly.

The pair share a son, Tushann.

In the interview the presenter also spoke about quitting her job as GMB’s Political Editor due to exhaustion.

‘I was at the White House, in Brussels every week for Brexit, there was the Jeremy Corbyn thing with Momentum,’ she recalled.

She added: ‘Trump was tweeting every day, I was in Helsinki one day, I’d be in Austria the next day. I had a bit of a burnout.’

While she ‘loved every second of it’, she knew it was time to walk away.

She is now one of the regular main hosts on the ITV show.

Last year Ranvir said she was ‘learning’ a lot from her younger partner.

‘We don’t ever joke about the age difference. Actually, age is no guarantee of someone being wonderful to you. There are complete g**s who are exactly the same age as you,’ she told The Sun.

She added that a 50-year-old man could have ‘no idea about being a good partner’ and that she was ‘a lot more immature’ than Louis is when she was his age.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.
