Jordan Poole is now a Washington Wizard, but he was very nearly a Toronto Raptor if one report is to be believed.

The Golden State Warriors were apparently shopping Poole to multiple teams over the last few weeks, and offered him to the Toronto Raptors. According to The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami, the Warriors wanted OG Anunoby in return.

Anunoby has been a common name brought up in trade rumors over the last few years. Three-and-D players are a priority in the NBA, and Anunoby fits the bill to a tee.

The Raptors haven’t decided if they want to commit to a rebuild, but their actions over the next few weeks could determine the direction they will head in.

Questions have come up about players like Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam, and both players could be on the move just a few years removed from helping the Raptors win their first NBA title.

The Warriors have elected to tweak their roster yet again, despite winning the title in 2022. Poole was a big part of that championship run, but regressed this past season, especially in the playoffs.

Golden State has added another veteran presence in Chris Paul, and they gave up a young player in Poole to acquire him.

It appears that the Paul trade was the best out of many potential options the Warriors were exploring to move on from Poole.
