The Red Devils have already brought in Mason Mount in a £60million deal from Chelsea while they are hoping to wrap up negotiations with Inter to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana for £44m.
But manager Erik ten Hag is in desperate need of a new number nine and the club are locked in talks with Atalanta to try and seal a deal for young forward Hojlund.
It is hoped that a £50m package should be enough to convince the Serie A side to sell the Denmark international, though they are playing hardball over the fee.
Hojlund is said to be desperate to make the move to Old Trafford this summer and has made it clear to Atalanta he wants to be allowed to leave.
Now his personal trainer has dropped a major hint over the striker’s future, uploading a clip of the 20-year-old being put through his paces during his summer holidays.
Hojlund is not due to report back to Atalanta for pre-season training until next week but has been maintaining his fitness by taking part in sessions with the Energeticx team in Copenhagen.
Working with trainer Ibrahim Junior Mansaray, Hojlund could be seen taking part in fitness drills and ball work.
The caption that accompanied the video read, ‘We ready for what’s next’ – which was taken as a reference to a potential move to United by supporters – and tagged Hojlund alongside a ‘ssshing’ emoji.
United had initially looked into trying to sign Tottenham star Harry Kane to bring much-needed firepower to their frontline but withdrew their interest over fears Daniel Levy would demand an astronomical fee.
Hojlund emerged as a cheaper alternative and Ten Hag has held several video calls with the youngster before greenlighting a move.
Agency SEG International recently acquired the Dane as a client which should smooth talks between all parties, with the agency also representing Ten Hag.
Hojlund netted eight times in 19 starts in his first season in Serie A after joining from Austrian club Sturm Graz last year, while he netted five goals in two games for Denmark back in March including a hat-trick against Finland
