The Razer Edge 5G is an Android-based device like its Logitech counterpart, which means it will offer the entire Google Play Store catalog of games. However, it is really a cloud-based machine, and as such, Xbox Cloud Gaming is at the heart of its credentials. Moreover, the model will be able to stream games from Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service.
Razer Edge 5G buyers will also be able to enjoy their PC game library via Steam Link, while console-side titles will be available via Xbox’s own remote-play system. The company claims that “Steam Link users can enjoy gameplay at 144Hz” on the console. Support for the likes of Parsec and Moonlight is also on the table.
RazerAt first glance, the device looks like a gaming tablet, but the company will also bundle the Razer Kishi V2 Pro mobile gaming controller in the retail package. An enhanced version of the Kishi V2, the new Pro model adds the proprietary Razer HyperSense tech for delivering more precise haptic feedback and also throws in a 3.5mm jack to the mix. Underneath the face buttons are microswitches for improved tactical response. Razer is promising console quality controls, but won’t say how much the device is going to cost when the handheld gaming console hits the shelves next year.
