Rebel Wilson has been planning to lose weight for years, but filming for Pitch Perfect prevented her from doing so.
Rebel Wilson is down almost 80 pounds, and she’s been living a healthier lifestyle over the last three years. Her weight loss journey wouldn’t have been possible if she’s still filming for Pitch Perfect as the comedian revealed that she wasn’t allowed to lose more than 10 pounds while doing the film. The actress confessed that the said condition was stipulated in her contract for the franchise.
The actress had no regrets starring on the film, she enjoyed working on the set, and it did wonders to her career. Starring on Pitch Perfect as one of The Barden Bellas cemented her name in Hollywood. She also had no problem when the film made fun of her weight, and it didn’t affect her confidence.
During her guesting on the podcast Call Her Daddy as reported by Insider, the actress shared that Pitch Perfect was the reason she delayed her plans to lose weight. She said, “I couldn’t lose a massive amount of weight, because I was in the contract for that movie. You can’t lose, I think it’s not more than 10 pounds, or gain more than 10 pounds. Yeah, you have to kind of stay at the weight. It’s in your contract.”
Rebel Wilson Wanted To Land Diverse Role
The actress lost weight by strictly eating high protein foods and doing portion control. She also started incorporating healthier food options to her diet. She said, “I’m just trying to go for overall balance, overall healthy balance, I have this state of being, which is not my quote, but I go, ‘Nothing is forbidden.’ We’ll be like, ‘Should we get In-N-Out burger?’ And I’m like, ‘Nothing is forbidden.’ I can go there, I just might eat half of what I used to eat before. You know? And I’ll have a burger, and a few fries, and then you feel fine.”
Rather than losing weight for vanity reasons, the actress simply wanted to lose weight to have a better chance of conceiving a child. In addition, the actress also wanted to land diverse film roles other than being the funny fat friend.
Ultimately, it was the visit to a fertility doctor that pushed her to finally lose those extra pounds. She said to Women’s Health Magazine, “I went to see a fertility doctor, and he was like, ‘You’d have a much better chance with fertility if you were healthier, It really hit me hard, because I was living a fantastic bigger life.”
She continued, “I was stereotyped in playing that fat, funny friend, which is so hard because I love those roles I love doing the roles. I love those characters. But then I did want to do more things, and I felt like being the bigger girl you’re just more pigeonholed.”
